When should you take a time out from a conversation?
I stopped it with my children
It’s a miracle I survived. I’m thankful that somehow I didn’t give up on myself.
Brilliant! 💥
Covert narcissist mother and alcoholic father. Four daughters didn't stand a chance.
💯
Dark empathy is nothing more than a person being skilled at acting.
I have become a dark empath. I will help, but after multiple assaults and 20 years of HOMELESSNESS I learned not to give or care as much. Seriously I
This don’t make sence because ppl that use empathy to manipulate their outcome is actually using selfish narcissistic patterns , And is not an empath
Mine has criticized nearly everything I have done, said, thought; my looks, my choices, for all of my 64 years. And she's still at it. I'm just relieved she moved 250 miles away from me and I don't have to see her much. Which is sad to me. But it is what it is 😢
@yellowdayz1800 I agree! Saving us a fortune in the process. 😊
Jim is helping me so much. ❤
this guy is a dark empath.
yes very very hard. very true what you said
I just ignore them and walk away
@spiderzvow1 😂 Very effective! 😅
Great explainationy
Definitely…. I am also really working on nurturing healthy relationships….during lockdown I used the opportunity to let go of 3-4 narcissistic long-time friendships
... here i am
Excellent. For some of us, this came more natural.
Love takes work. A lot of work. Don't let this distress you, it's well worth it, and the things you learn building a healthy love will help you in all your connections. I will add: Learn the difference between critique and criticism. Critique recognises what you did right as well as what you did wrong. Critique is about helping the other improve. Critique is said in a helpful way. Critique is NOT said when the other person is unhappy or weak. It's said when the other is open to learning. How a person gives critique is even more important than the critique itself.
I went off on someone and later I felt guilty. I couldn't understand whether or not I overreacted but in the moment I was just trying to protect myself from the threat of danger.
Can this happen in a marriage
An adaptation though is to figure out how to learn in quick sessions. I found out that if there's enough pressure or stress with limited time, I learn best and remember the most accurately. Yeah, not ideal. There are additional nuances yet this is to the point. And, I have an excellent memory as long as I'm not asked about the last few days. It's a given though that there are variances considering the trauma or traumas and the specific person who experienced it.
I can relate to this thanks to my evil monster inlaw, her mentally ill son and unsupportive parents who got me married at 18 and left me with those wild wolves. I still suffer and it's affected my kids massively, but I'm still supposed to be grateful , i live with severe traumadaily and am so damaged i cant evenpick up the phone to get an appointmentfor the doctors. For me , death is the only way out ,
I am bawling as I learn this. Make no mistake a little neglect, so I thought, as I wasnt as abused as others.. I believed I was ok. I held no grudges against my parents. Years later. Second marriage to a covert malignant narcissist who wanted to lead me to suicide for his sick fantasies. Free now by the mercy of God
Powerful words
So, who on earth hasn't been traumatized?
You are absolutely right! My parent has told my sister before to get over it. What a joke 🤦♀️.
It is heartbreaking to see so many people in the comments experienced this
Wow this hit hard. I'm 55 and still healing from my childhood😭🙏❤️🩹
How do we change it bac k though? All these ppst tell us the negativity of stuff we cannot control or change
Amazing. 😢
My childhood.
Oh, that is something.
Um...that's like saying NPDs are dks cause it's apart of the disorder...it's a coping mechanism. Wow ..don't state it's actually a sick behavior and shows mental illness
At some point aren't we just talking about people? Like some are selfish some arent
Yer sounds like a narcissist
Can it be fixed/ cured/ reversed??
my mom is one
Self absorbed folks dont respect boundaries the world revolves around their needs dont waste your time.
Thank you. That's great advice.
Sounds like what a narcissist would say to discredit a boundaried or, dark empath. The empath and narcissist are on opposite sides of the spectrum. A weak empath being one who only thinks of others, and narcissist, only of themselves. When an empath learns how to protect themselves, learns how to say no, lets go of people pleasing behavior and has embraced and tamed their shadow, they are considered a dark empath. The integration of light and dark.
Isn't narcissism a spectrum, so technically everyone is narcissistic 🤷🏽♀️
So, what’s the percentage of time parents are dark empaths to their children? Negative connotation aside
Sounds like someone living in an abyss
Everyone literally can describe something about themselves that isn't "perfect" and relate it to childhood and parenting decisions
Yep, sounds like me
Absolutely false your job is to examine explore and find evaluate whether or not a person is truly what they say they are. It’s a balance view not automatically affirming but not dismissing either
like when you have a stroke and pass out and your dad calls the cops and gets you arrested for a small amount of mushrooms?
dark emphats are not really emphats. They're are almost narcissists.
